Imports Up by 20.2 Percent in First Five Months of Current Year

TEHRAN, September 6 (Mehr News Agency) -- Agricultural exports claim first place with a 43 percent rise compared to the same period last year.

In an interview with Mehr News Agency Minister of Economy Mohammad Shariatmadari said: “in terms of value the 20 percent rise in the rate of growth in national exports is promising.”

 

The agricultural sector with 43 percent, the industrial sector with 18.5 percent and handicraft and mining sectors with 4 percent growth each compared to the same period last year bring the average rate of growth for the first five months of this year up to 20.2 percent.

 

While pointing to the stabilization of the Forex rate and the rate of inflation currently running at 12 percent in the country, the minister said that the increases witnessed in exports in the initial months resulted from support offered by the government and incentives set for the exports.
